Computing

At Mandeville, we believe Computing  can help to make learning better, easier and more stimulating for children. From Years 1-6 children have one hour a week in the IT suite.  They use them in cross-curricular activities, such as maths, English and science. Through the Computing and Technology curriculum the children learn important skills, such as using email, typing, saving, printing, internet search, eSafety and giving presentations. We also have two blocks (each two weeks) where the children will study computing almost every day. They are able to work on a project during this time- this could be in coding, music technology, iPad presentations and more. At Mandeville, we are teaching more coding and programming, which will allow our children to be ahead of the game when working with technology.

With schemes such as The Hour of Code, we aim to create a culture in which the children talk about computing with high regard and take the subject seriously. Computing skills are becoming necessary in most vocations, and we want our children to be ready for this when they leave school.
