Democracy Week

Earlier this term Mandeville had a week during which the whole school learnt about democracy. 40 children were nominated by their classmates to run for school council. The competition was tough this year and the standards were very high. Each nominee presented their own speech, which they had written themselves in front of their whole year group.

Every child in the school, from Reception to year 6 had a very difficult decision to make! Thursday was polling day and each child got the opportunity to go to the polling station and have their say about who they would like to represent them in the new school council.

The children have had their voice and their new school council who will represent them as the new Junior Leadership Team are:
Reception – Amirah & Armani
Year 1 – Aroush & Jayden D
Year 2 – Adam & Neriah
Year 3/4 – Aashai, Nevaeh & Ely
Year 5 – Micah & Jessica
Year 6 – Duaa & Rhys
Well done to all of our nominees! It was our closest vote yet and all of the children exceeded our expectations. Congratulations to our new school councillors! The hard work starts now. Watch this space!
