PE and Sports Premium Funding
What is the Sports Premium?
The government is providing funding of £150 million per annum for the academic years 2014/15 and 2015/16 to provide new and substantial primary school sports funding. The funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school Head teachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.
Each school will receive £8,000 plus an extra £5 per pupil each year.
This means that at we will receive £9,535 for Mandeville Primary School.
Purpose of the Funding
Schools are required to spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they have the freedom to choose how they do this.
PPSG at Mandeville
At Mandeville Primary School, we are strongly committed to PE and recognise the contribution of PE to the health and wellbeing of the children. Additionally, we believe that an innovative, varied and immersive PE curriculum has a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement. The same can also be said for our extra-curricular opportunities. Our commitment to these opportunities is evident in the wide array of sporting activities that we offer both in and out of school. Our Sports Premium Funding will help us to continue to provide this provision and ensure that we have professionals that specialise in the areas on offer.
